Champaign County single-payer activism

On April 15, 2015, the Champaign County AFL-CIO passed a resolution endorsing HR 676, the Expanded and Improved Medicare for All Act, also endorsing the Labor Campaign for Single-Payer and instructing David Johnson (delegate from Central Illinois Jobs with Justice, of which ISPC is an organizational member) to work with the Labor Campaign.

In 2015, David Johnson was appointed to the steering committee of the Labor Campaigh for Single Payer.

Other Illinois labor organizations, including some from Champaign and Central Illinois, that have passed resolutions in support of single-payer health care are listed on this page.

To arrange a screening of The Healthcare Movie with discussion, contact David Johnson as above.

ISPC members marched with the Central Illinois Jobs with Justice contingent in the 2013 Urbana-Champaign Labor Day parade.

Central Illinois Jobs with Justice passed a resolution in support of HR 676 on September 21, 2013.

David Johnson's article, "The New Civil Rights Campaign--Health Care is a Human Right," was published in The Public I, May 2013, and is posted here.

David Johnson hosts Illinois-World Radio Hour on WEFT Radio, where he sometimes interviews single-payer activists. Single-payer programs are posted on this website's Events Calendar.
